Thaçi and Haradinaj say they are not aware of any proposal in Berlin summit

(KTV)

It is expected that the Berlin summit will soon bring together state leaders of Kosovo and Serbia, with the meetings of Prime Ministers and Presidents.

President Emmanuel Macron and Chancellor Angela Merkel will be facilitators of the summit.

Austrian newspaper Der Standard reported on Wednesday that at the summit, the idea of territory exchange will be ultimately buried, but a special status for Kosovo north will be proposed.

But when asked about the possibility of presentation of a draft agreement at this summit, Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj said he was not aware of it.

President Hashim Thaçi stated confidently on Facebook that no plan about the Kosovo-Serbia agreement will be proposed.

“Based on consultations that I have had, no plan about the Kosovo-Serbia agreement will be proposed. Furthermore, there is no secret agenda behind this meeting. We expect that at the end, the meeting will result with a general rhetoric statement, which will be preliminarily agreed upon by the participants,” Thaçi said.

Meanwhile, President Hashim Thaçi and Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj still have not had any coordination meeting, so that they could represent Kosovo with a unified stance at the Berlin summit.

Imer Mushkolaj, analyst, thinks that differences of the institutional leaders about the dialogue and going to Berlin without a unified stance are harmful to the country.

President Thaçi has said that it would be desperate if at the Berlin summit, France and Germany will again fail to adjust their stances about the decision on visa liberalisation for Kosovars.

The European Parliament Rapporteur for Serbia David McAllister expects that the 29 April summit in Berlin will contribute to the continuation of dialogue between Belgrade and Prishtinë/Pristina, which is a common goal of the European Union.

“Dialogue between Belgrade and Prishtinë/Pristina will be part of the Berlin conference, but activities of the European External Action Service and of the High Representative are not replaced there. Our common goal is to continue the dialogue,” the German MEP McAllister stated.

(RTK)

Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) has definitely decided not to nominate candidates for local elections in the four northern municipalities.

This was confirmed to Klan Kosova by the LDK Secretary General Ismet Beqiri.

“We will not have candidates for mayors in the northern municipalities. We will have our representatives in municipal election commissions. Also, we will have our commissioners and observers to follow the process,” Ismet Beqiri said.

Elections for mayors in the north will be held on May 19th.

Action in Belgrade reconstructs Serbian crimes in Kosovo

(KTV)

With the public action ‘Reconstruction of Crime’, 20th anniversary of Serbian crimes against Albanian civilians in Kosovo was marked in Belgrade.

Humanitarian Law Centre, Youth Initiative for Human Rights, and Women in Black organisations performed this action in front of the building of the Serbian Academy of Science.

Around 20 activists held up slogans, including in Albanian language, reading that crimes in Kosovo are still remembered.

Nine persons sat down on the street for a few minutes, supporting statements of the action organisers that Albanian civilians were subject to ethnic cleansing, whilst various Serbian formations committed a lot of crimes, including expulsion of 800,000 residents to Montenegro, Macedonia, and Albania.

The expulsion was accompanied by brutality, mistreatment, killings and imprisonments, displacement of dead bodies to mass graves in Serbia, with raping, demolishing of houses and property.

The action organisers called on Serbian authorities to carry out a detailed identification of all victims of war in Kosovo, which would avoid manipulation and abuse. In addition, they called on Serbian authorities to stop glorification of war criminals.

This is the second action that has taken place in Belgrade within a short time, to honour Kosovo Albanian victims.
