The United Nations Security Council has adopted the resolution for sexual violence during the war.

Endorsement came after removal of a clause on the reproduction health of women, in order to avoid the U.S. veto.

Resolution presented by Germany was adopted with 13 votes for and none against, while Russia and China abstained from voting.

There were allegations that the United States wanted to use its veto on the resolution due to a referring on the reproduction rights, which in Washington is considered as encouragement for abortion.

A delegation from Kosovo, presided by former President Atifete Jahjaga was present during the discussions for endorsement of this resolution at UN Headquarters.

“Today, we participate at the Open Debate on Sexual Violence in Conflict of the United Nations, on behalf of approximately 20.000 heroines, survivors of sexual violence during the war in Kosovo.

Your extraordinary power is an incitement to always find ways to share your stories and appeal for justice, until justice is reached,” Jahjaga wrote on her Facebook account.
