Kosovo President Hashim Thaci called on the European Union today to grant visa liberalization for Kosovo’s citizens, most news websites report. On the occasion of Europe Day, Thaci said Kosovars are more pro-European than many other nations and that their discrimination is compromising the very values of the European Union. “On this special day for the European Union, we call for visa liberalization for the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo and for clarity for the European prospects of the Western Balkans … We have met requirements that go beyond the standards of EU member states, yet our citizens are still being discriminated. This discrimination and unequal treatment are compromising the very values of the European Union. The European Union must put an end to the isolation of Kosovo’s citizens,” Thaci said.
