Council for the war crimes of the Basic Court in Pristina has extended the detention of Zlatan Krstic from Kragujevac for two more months, Radio kontakt plus reported. He is suspected of allegedly committing the war crimes, his lawyer Dejan A. Vasic said.

Krstic is suspected of taking part in the events in the village of Nerodimlje, Urosevac municipality, during March 1999 when members of Nuha family were murdered. Their bodies were found in a mass grave in Urosevac.

“I’ve been working for a decade as a defence lawyer in numerous war crimes’ cases in Kosovo. I had the opportunity to work with number of international and local prosecutors. However, it never occurred in my experience that a prosecution did not carry out a single investigative action within a month, although their imperative is to act with urgency,” lawyer Vasic said.

He added that Zlatan Krstic “was neither member of the police nor the army, he has lived in Kragujevac since the seventies and did not come to Kosovo during the conflict. He visited his birthplace Nerodimlje after the war and met several times with the crucial witness of the prosecution, without any problems.”
