Kosovo’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Behgjet Pacolli called on Serbia not to politicize the police operation against crime and smuggling in Kosovo. “Kosovo Police is commencing an action in northern Kosovo to arrest Kosovo citizens, including police officers, who are part of the network which was deeply involved in smuggling, bribe, abuse of official position and other organized crime activities. This operation was prepared for several months and it is part of major efforts that Kosovo is undertaking to strengthen order and rule of the law in the entire country. We have seen similar actions in other parts of Kosovo during the last days. Kosovo wants to show its will on fighting organised crime, corruption, abuse of official position and we appeal to all to support such actions,” Pacolli wrote on his Facebook profile.
“I call on Serbia not to abuse politically with a simple police operation. We call on them to support the war against organized crime and not object it. Wellbeing of all communities that live in Kosovo is the most important thing and the government of Kosovo guarantees that this is of high interest. I condemn calls of the Serbian government made even to the army to be in the state of alert, due to a simple police action against networks of the organized crime,” Pacolli wrote.
