EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, said that if the EU aid is used wisely today, forces of confrontation risk becoming a threat to integration process.
Commenting on Kosovo Police’s operation yesterday, Mogherini said that the dialogue needs to resume. “What happened yesterday shows Pristina and Belgrade need to return to the table of dialogue and reach a legally binding agreement. What happened yesterday is a reminder that we all want a legally binding agreement as the whole region benefits from it,” she said.
“We know and we agree that tendencies of the past for confrontation, or for rhetoric that is not cooperative, may arise at any moment and this is why I am saying we’re at a crossroad,” she added.
Mogherini further called on Kosovo institutions to lift the tax on Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. “As donors we know it is better to do business than war. Kosovo and Serbia need to be committed for an agreement and if we speak about conditions, I would reiterate that the 100-percent tax on Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina should be revoked.”
