Deutsche Welle in Albanian reports that for the first time in its history, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution on persons reported missing during armed conflicts.

The Security Council resolution 2474, according to DW, calls on parties in armed conflict to take all necessary measures to prevent persons from going missing, especially children. It also calls on parties in conflict to ensure investigations and the prosecution of offences linked to missing persons and to identify the dead, return remains to their relatives and refrain from deliberate relocation of remains from mass graves.

With regards to missing persons in Kosovo, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) told Deutsche Welle that 73 percent of cases of missing persons have been resolved. “Lack of information about gravesites is the reason why the process has slowed down,” ICRC said.
