Several news websites report that Kosovo’s Minister of Justice, Abelard Tahiri, met with ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions of EU member states in Pristina, to inform them about the measures of this ministry in addressing the findings of the European Commission’s Report on Kosovo. “After the investments we have made in the judiciary and the prosecutorial system by increasing the budget, the Republic of Kosovo today has reached the European quotas for the number of judges and prosecutors per capita. This investment will continue in the future and we expect proper plans for the needs of the Kosovo Judicial Council and the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council,” he said. Tahiri highlighted changes in the legislation and mechanisms for the fight against corruption, saying that these amendments enable more powerful instruments that will help achieve better results. “The fight against corruption and organized crime is not a process that can be measured with a simple number of targeted cases but it needs to produce overall results in every area and I think we have a lot of work to do to score better results in this respect,” he added.
