Betim Musliu from the Kosovo Law Institute said in a debate in RTV Dukagjini on Wednesday that Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) leader Kadri Veseli’s decision to relieve from duty party officials who have active indictments presents a new momentum in Kosovo politics. Musliu said civil society has long called for the decriminalization of the political landscape. He said that everyone laughed at Veseli when he recently declared war on corruption at his party’s convention. “But with his decision today, Veseli changed these opinions. We in civil society have made repeated calls for the decriminalization of politics in Kosovo and this should be regulated by law. The PDK leader has launched this initiative in a way. This will certainly have a cost in his own party. If he had dismissed only people working in public institutions it would have been an evident mask, but the fact that people were dismissed from his party too shows that some very important individuals in the PDK will no longer have Veseli’s support,” he added.
