Shpend Ahmeti, leader of the Social Democratic Party of Kosovo (PSD), said on Thursday he will invite Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) leader Isa Mustafa and Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti to a meeting with the aim of bringing down the Haradinaj-led government. The two opposition parties – LDK and VV – have welcomed Ahmeti’s engagement.

LDK MP Naser Rugova told the news website today: “Ahmeti has realized that he was a tool used by the ruling coalition. The Constitutional Court of Kosovo has ruled that the negotiating team is unconstitutional, and we have made this claim together with Vetevendosje, since day one. We are glad that Ahmeti has walked out of this trap and has realized the mistake he made,” Rugova said.

Rugova also said that LDK leader Isa Mustafa and Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti have been meeting for several months now, discussing the initiative to oust the government. “Mustafa and Kurti have also lobbied with other parties that are part of the ruling coalition to bring down the current government as it is damaging Kosovo and its future. We are glad that Ahmeti has realized the game played by the partners of the ruling coalition. It’s better late than never,” he added.

Vetevendosje representatives too commented on Ahmeti’s remarks against the government. Vetevendosje MP Rexhep Selimi told the news website that Ahmeti seems to be serious for the initiative to bring down the government.
