Kosovo Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli’s request for establishment of a commission to look into the list of Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) veterans is seen as being unnecessary, intrusion into the justice system and above all, a slap to his coalition partner, Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, Kosovapress reports quoting Vetevendosje and legal experts.
Vetevendosje MP Rexhep Selimi said Veseli’s request will only further delay the resolution to the problems KLA veterans face. According to him, Veseli is trying to detach himself from responsibility regarding the lists and at the same time deliver a blow to Haradinaj.
MP from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) Time Kadriaj at the same time said that justice should run its course concerning the lists of KLA veterans. “The case is with the court and we support any court ruling,” she said.
Meanwhile, Betim Musliu from the Kosovo Institute for Justice said Veseli’s request for establishing a commission is an interference into the justice system and is more of a political battle tool between coalition partners. “For as long as there is an ongoing judicial process about a case, any attempt to intervene in the issue is an interference into the work of the judiciary. In this case, it is completely unnecessary to have parallel processes,” Musliu said.
