The German Chancellor Angela Merkel said they are looking into several possibilities to renew dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and that she has discussed the issue with President of Kosovo Hashim Thaci, Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj and the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

Speaking to reporters in Berlin, Merkel however admitted that despite these discussions there is still no breakthrough in unblocking the dialogue. “We need to look at modalities on how to renew dialogue,” she said.

“As part of efforts to come to a solution we have also offered a possibility for a meeting in Paris and we are still working to make this happen,” Merkel said adding that the dialogue should provide a perspective for the good of both sides.

Merkel underlined that the tariff on Serbian goods has created uncertainties regarding the renewal of dialogue. She also said the tariff has led to a setback of the dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade and recalled that this issue was discussed with Kosovo leadership at the Berlin summit.
