Sources within the Office of the President of Kosovo reportedly said that extraordinary elections will be held on 8 January.
According to these sources President Thaci has decided to proclaim extraordinary elections for 8 September, in accordance with the constitutional and legal deadlines.
According to the legal interpretations, extraordinary elections should be held not earlier than 30 days and not later than 45 days. However, this is valid for the date after the Assembly of Kosovo is constituted. As there is no new constitution of the Assembly this time, it is not clear if these deadlines are valid under current circumstances.
