Veseli ignores Haradinaj

(KTV)

The resigning Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj announced that initiating the dissolution of the Assembly is not far away, although he refused to give a date for this matter.

Following the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Behgjet Pacolli and Fatmir Limaj, Haradinaj said they agreed that the country should go to the polls, but were waiting for the President to take action.

At this meeting, leader of the ruling PAN coalition, Kadri Veseli, was absent.

The host of the meeting [Ramush Haradinaj] justified his absence by saying that it is electoral campaign time.

Before Haradinaj, the leader of the Social Democratic Initiative, Fatmir Limaj, left the meeting.

He called the meeting with the AAK and AKR leaders as a coffee meeting.

Mustafa: LDK will win September elections

(KTV)

Although new elections have not been called yet, the LDK leader Isa Mustafa said that the elections will be held in September, and that LDK will win them.

In a statement on his Facebook profile, after the meeting in his party, he did not give any indication whether or not he will run for another mandate for LDK’s leader.

The current LDK leader Isa Mustafa explained that on 3rd August, LDK holds its ninth convention, adding that it is an important event for LDK.

“Of course, it is important for Kosovo as well, because LDK is the leading party in the country, not only in terms of size, but also in terms of its democratic age – this year it turns 30,” Mustafa said.

He said he expects also from political opponents to wish good luck to LDK. He added that LDK did not interfere and did not lobby negatively during elections of any party.

“We even did not comment on their election results. Kosovo needs healthy parties, it needs healthy relations amongst political entities, it needs a strong and democratic competition,” Mustafa added.

He expressed his belief that LDK will come out strong and unified from its ninth convention.

“LDK will win national elections in September this year. LDK will not make coalitions with those that do not deserve it, but it will not foster a pathological hatred against anybody. That is because people of any political party are people of Kosovo with different ideas, they are our people,” Mustafa concluded.

LDK seeking a consensual candidate for its leader

(KTV)

A few days before the LDK’s convention, the LDK Executive Committee and LDK caucus held a joint meeting.

At this meeting, besides internal elections of 3rd August, they also discussed request of the LDK caucus to adopt some important items in the Kosovo Assembly, prior to dissolution of this legislature.

Despite qualifying it a consultative meeting, LDK chairmanship member Muharrem Svarça said he expects that before the convention, an agreement on a consensual candidate for LDK’s leader will be reached, in order for LDK to win the new elections.

However, Svarça refused to mention any name as a possible consensual candidate.

He explained that at the meeting, they also discussed request of the LDK caucus, so that prior to dissolution of the Assembly and the elections, to ratify international agreement on IPA funds, which allows Kosovo to benefit millions of euros.

Svarça expects that new elections will be held at the end of September. He added that before the LDK’s internal elections, several consultative and preparatory meetings will take place, in order to ensure a successful internal election process.

Sejdiu confirms his candidacy for LDK leader

(Insajderi)

Former Kosovo President and former leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Fatmir Sejdiu, said he had expressed his interest in running for LDK chairman in 2015, but he was obstructed back then.

On RTV Dukagjini’s “Debate Plus” show Sejdiu said he has expressed his willingness to run for the LDK leader, as he says “to give my best and fullest contribution that is in my person.”

He said that, however, no formal candidacy has yet been made, Insajderi portal reported.

“It will happen in the Assembly, and I will see all the necessary elements that are necessary for me… My wish is for that Assembly to go well, to be successful and to draw good conclusions also in terms of drawing good structures,” he said.

MLGA presented work report on 100 last days

(RTK2)

Ministry of Local Government Administration (MLGA) has presented a report on the work in the past 100 days, since this ministry has been headed by Adrijana Hodzic. She emphasized the importance of co-operation with all local governments in Kosovo, and reminded that monitoring of municipalities is one of the institution’s primary obligations.

The key task of Ministry of Local Government Administration is to monitor the work of all local governments, as well as to provide adequate support from the central level, because that support represents support to citizens, stressed Minister Hodzic at the presentation of the work report.

“I believe you will agree with me that MLGA is in fact the key pillar of local governments from the central level. Our approach to all 38 municipalities in Kosovo is the same. When it comes to the ministry, support for local governments goes from two directions, on one hand, from the Minister’s cabinet, it is the political part, and the other is technical, and it concerns all civilian workers engaged in this ministry,” Hodzic said.

She also stressed that communication with local representatives happens on a daily basis, and two-ways on many issues, including the issue of transparency.

“We do not except the mayors and the rest of their teams to come to the ministry and ask for certain support, but we are always ready to come to the field and feel their problems together, considering it to be the best way to understand the needs of the citizens themselves in all municipalities, ”she said.

The OSCE Mission in Kosovo will continue to cooperate with the Ministry of Local Government Administration in the coming period to help create better conditions for all citizens in Kosovo, Head of this Mission Jan Braathu said.

“The OSCE Mission is a big mission, we do not have many funds or donors, but we have people who are experts in performing their tasks and in this sense we want to support your and other ministries. In 2016, the Local Government Strategy was adopted and it was a central part of our cooperation with your ministry,” Braathu said.

Adrijana Hodzic was appointed Minister of Local Government Administration on April 12th. Ivan Todosijevic of Srpska Lista performed this function prior to her.

Only 20 returnees from Syria apply for social assistance

(KTV)

Three months have passed since 110 Kosovars have been repatriated from the conflict zone in Syria, most of them women and children.

Since that time, the women are under house arrest.

But only about 20 persons have applied for social assistance.

Moreover, three children have remained without a defined status, due to the problems with documentation.

Irrespective to that, shelter has been provided to the returnees from Syria.

This was stated by Fehmije Gashi, lawyer of one of the women who have returned from the conflict zone.

On the other hand, National Coordinator against Violent Extremism and Terrorism, Fatos Makolli, said that the children who have returned from Syria will start attending school as of 1st September.

Makolli added that all returnees will be registered for social schemes.

Pacolli appoints Haxholli as Director of Diplomatic Academy

(KTV)

The Diplomatic Academy, an institution that operates within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has a new director.

Following the departure of General Director Beqir Ismajli, as of August 1, this position will be filled by Fatmir Haxholli, former adviser to the resigning Minister Pacolli.

Haxholli says that Minister Behgjet Pacolli took the decision to appoint him to the post before, not after the resignation of Prime Minister Haradinaj, though he did not mention the date when the decision was taken.

Haxholli states that prior to his appointment as director, he had initially been hired as a civil servant at the Academy.

He believes he has the appropriate training, and aims to recover and empower the Academy, regardless, as he says, of having a modest number of staff members at his disposal.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs has again not responded to TV station’s inquiries about recent appointments in this ministry and the time of decision-making.
