Jetlir Zyberaj, adviser to Kosovo’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, wrote that Kosovo remains committed to implement in good faith all the agreements reached through Brussels dialogue. Zyberaj’s statements come after the reporting in the media that Kosovo Border Police Directorate decided not to recognize Serbian passports when Serbian citizens enter Kosovo.
“Kosovo can serve as an example for Serbia in this aspect.
We have successfully implemented the agreement for the freedom of movement of the populations of the two countries. Kosovo fully respects the agreement and remains engaged to the international obligations that it has taken over.
Freedom of movement is the key element of European integration and stronger regional cooperation.
However, Serbia is undertaking actions which threaten these agreements and it continues to create obstacles for our citizens and it continues with its propaganda for allegedly “extreme” measures.
Citizens of both countries can travel only with ID cards, but if they want to cross from Serbia to a third country, they have to have passports.
The European Union as facilitator and guarantee of the reached agreements in Brussels, should stop Belgrade from current behavior and actions.
This determination has been acknowledged for the fact that the state of Serbia has committed the worst crimes against humanity (after World War II) in Kosovo, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina and has not yet apologized for the crimes committed.
Serbian state continues today to impede reconciliation in the region.
