US Ambassador to Belgrade Kyle Scott twitted that it was time to put an end to the conflicts of the 1990s and called on Belgrade and Pristina to resume dialogue as soon as possible, Serbian media reports.

“It is time to put an end to the conflicts of the 90s. I urge Kosovo and Serbia to reopen the EU-sponsored dialogue as soon as possible and to refrain from taking steps that hinder an agreement,” Scott wrote on Twitter, sharing also yesterday’s joint statement by the Quint countries.

The Quint urged Pristina and Belgrade yesterday to resume dialogue as soon as possible and stressed that Pristina must abolish fees and Belgrade to suspend its campaign to withdraw recognition of Kosovo’s independence.

We have not noticed absolutely anything new or encouraging in the written statement of the countries of the so-called Quinta, and we believe that pre-conditions are created for Belgrade to be blamed once again for the failure of dialogue, the Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Bocan-Harchenko said in a Twitter post.

The Russian ambassador said that all well-known approaches are obvious.

“It is only possible to renew dialogue with vigorous work with Pristina and putting pressure on Pristina in order to abolish fees, and prevent actions with a change of power,” Bocan-Harchenko said.

Bocan-Harchenko also asked what links the issue of establishing a dialogue with the withdrawal of recognition of Kosovo’s unilaterally declared independence.

He says it is a sovereign affair of other states that understand the inability of Kosovo’s false statehood, as well as it runs counter to international law.

“No one has embarked on the task of preventing Kosovo from being pushed into international institutions, contrary to international law,” the Russian ambassador to Serbia said.

Also, according to Bocan-Harchenko, it is unclear why Euro-Atlantic integration is at stake.

“The Quinta again ignores Serbia’s stance on military-political neutrality. The reality is that Belgrade conducts pre-accession negotiations only with the European Union. So, hardly that this statement can be one among those that enable one to say: ‘We did all to renew the dialogue… ”, Bocan-Harchenko wrote on Twitter.
