Jakup Krasniqi, chairman of the National Council of NISMA, said in an interview to T7 on Thursday evening that Kosovo President Hashim Thaci could have been blackmailed and therefore tried to avoid the Special Court. Krasniqi said he was against “going from technical talks to political talks [with Serbia]” and that “the International Court of Justice, which ruled in favor of Kosovo’s independence, and a resolution adopted at the UN General Assembly, obliged Kosovo to hold technical and not political talks”. Asked why he thinks that President Thaci entered into political talks, Krasniqi said: “I think the Special Court too played a negative role. I think that someone’s attempt to avoid the Special Court through different maneuvers damaged the political process. This is how I see it; I could be wrong”. He also argued that people involved in the proceedings of the Special Court should not be part of talks with Serbia.
