The embassies of France, Germany and the United Kingdom have expressed concern over the deadlock of the Kosovo Accreditation Agency saying this puts the upcoming academic year at serious risk.

“The Embassies regard independent, accountable and transparent institutions as key to regulating the accreditation process of educational programmes and they have full respect for the autonomy of the Kosovo Accreditation Agency. At the same time, they are very concerned about the current inaction of the Agency’s Appeals Committee. Beyond violating its own administrative responsibilities by failing to function, such inaction completely prevents the (re-) accreditation of even the best study programmes. This in turn impacts negatively on the educational institutions concerned and their ability to offer educational opportunities to the youth of Kosovo,” the embassies said in a joint statement.

They add that as Kosovo’s greatest asset, the youth should be offered best opportunities for education. “The three Embassies jointly call on the respective authorities to fulfil their respective functions and perform their duties as foreseen by Kosovo law.”
