Kosovo Ombudsperson Hilmi Jashari issued a statement today calling on all political parties to uphold the principle of gender equality in the October 6 parliamentary elections, several news websites report. “Guaranteeing equal opportunities and without any discrimination on gender basis is not only necessary for a democratic society but is also a constitutional and legal requirement that needs to be implemented by all, including the political parties,” the statement notes.
