Srpska Lista assessed today decision of the Central Election Commission (CEC) in Pristina that only voters with Kosovo documents may cast the vote in the upcoming elections is unlawful and represents a flagrant violation of the law, aiming to deny the Serbs their right to vote and elect their legitimate representatives, Kosovo-online portal reports.

Srpska Lista Chair Goran Rakic told journalists in Mitrovica North that the person registered on voters’ list would not be able to vote with the Serbian documents, underlining that the law clearly stipulates all valid documents can be used for the identification purposes, regardless who has issued them.

Srpska Lista Deputy Chair Dalibor Jevtic said the strong initiative for such decision comes from the Albanian parties, but also from “those claiming that they are representatives of the Serbs.” He added such decision affects displaced persons as well given that they have not returned in Kosovo.

Igor Simic expressed hope that Election Appeals and Complaints Panel would not succumb to the political pressure and this administrative instruction will be revoked as well as a new one made in line with the law.

Meanwhile, member of the Kosovo Serbs Party (PKS) Executive Board, Dragan Jablanovic, whose party will take part in the upcoming Kosovo elections, said he is always for respecting the law adding the institutions should resolve the issue of CEC decision that only voters with Kosovo documents may cast the vote.
