President of Kosovo Hashim Thaci met in Japan Tadamori Oshima, Speaker of the House of Representatives.
According to a press statement issued by Thaci’s cabinet, the meeting focused on the deepening of bilateral cooperation between respective parliaments.
Thaci hailed the decision of Japan’s Government to establish the Initiative for Cooperation with the Western Balkans which is aimed at deepening Japan’s cooperation and creating long-term peace in the region.
“This new focus of Prime Minister Abe and the Japanese state comes at a crucial time for Kosovo and the region. Kosovo is committed to quick membership in the EU and NATO, while it welcomes Japan’s role in contributing to peace and stability in the Balkans”, Thaci is quoted as saying.
Thaci and Oshima also discussed the issue of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia with Thaci thanking the Japanese authorities for supporting the peace project and opening the European perspective of the Western Balkans.
