Toby Vogel, an expert with the Democratization Policy Council, said in an interview for Radio Free Europe that the victory of two opposition parties – the Vetevendosje Movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) – in the parliamentary elections in Kosovo on Sunday reflects the dissatisfaction of the people with the 12 years of governance by the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK). Vogel also said the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia could become more difficult in terms of Kosovo President Hashim Thaci’s idea for a land swap and Vetevendosje’s opposition to this idea. “I think that now, the position of President Thaci, who was in favor of some changes or territorial exchange between the two countries, will become increasingly difficult because Vetevendosje is against any idea for talks on territories with Serbia. This will complicate the dialogue to a large extent,” he argued.
