Government decisions questioned (Tribuna)
For the second time in two weeks, the post-election coalition between the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) and Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA), warned the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) that they will review all decisions taken by PDK over the last months. “The LDK-AAK-NISMA coalition once more expresses its concern about continuing decisions of the outgoing government. These decisions are damaging and strange, and all of them will be subject to review and termination”, said the coalition in a statement.
LDK-AAK-NISMA supports €600 million highway (Koha)
The paper reports on page three that the coalition of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) and Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) said on Sunday that it would not review the outgoing government’s decision on the construction of the Pristina-Skopje highway. “The LDK-AAK-NISMA coalition will support the construction of the highway to Skopje. However, we insist that the government should stop making decisions that are damaging for the country,” a press release issued by the opposition coalition noted.
Djuric meets COMKFOR Farina (Zeri)
Marko Djuric, Director of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo, visited northern Kosovo on Sunday where he met with the Commander of KFOR (COMKFOR), Salvatore Farina. Djuric praised KFOR’s role in fostering cooperation between Belgrade, Pristina and the international community, and ensuring the security of the people of Kosovo. “Djuric and Farina agreed that dialogue needs to continue on all remaining issues in Kosovo and that acceptable solutions for all parties need to be found,” a press release issued by Djuric’s office noted.
Silence over Lladrovci’s appointment to diplomatic service (Tribuna)
Former MP from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) Ramiz Lladrovci has been appointed Kosovo’s chargé d’affaires to Albaniabut no one at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was available to comment on the move. The paper claims that Lladrovci’s appointment contradicts previous statements by Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj, who has insisted that Kosovo’s embassy in Tirana will only be led by Ambassador Sylejman Selimi, who is currently on trial for war crimes.
European “ghetto” (Tribuna)
Kosovo remains the only place in Europe that hasn’t been granted visa liberalization. At the same time, the lines of people waiting in front of European embassies for visas are becoming longer and only a small percentage of visa applicants receive positive answers. One of the main reasons behind visa refusal, according to what embassy officials tell the applicants, is the fear that they may not return to Kosovo.
Only Sabit Geci is ill (Tribuna)
International doctors commissioned by EULEX have concluded that, with the exception of Sabit Geci, the defendants in the so-called Drenica Group do not need treatment at the Kosovo Clinical University Center (QKUK). Geci is said to need medical treatment for conditions affecting his liver and vascular system. EULEX has ordered the return of the others to detention.
