Jahjaga: Political crisis must end (Lajm)
Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga said on Thursday that a speedy solution to the political deadlock will enable Kosovo to meet its obligations toward its people and the international community, and speed up its European integration prospects. After meeting leaders of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Jahjaga said leaders of parliamentary parties and members of the Kosovo Assembly must find a solution in line with the constitutional framework and the decisions of the Constitutional Court. Jahjaga also said Kosovo cannot allow the political crisis to continue “because it will damage the people of Kosovo and the strategic international partnership”.
Grabovci: Ready for talks with coalition bloc (Epoka e Re)
Adem Grabovci, deputy leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), told Kosovapress on Thursday that there will be no constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly without a prior agreement among political parties. He also said the PDK would not give up on the post of Prime Minister. Grabovci blamed parties of the coalition bloc for the current stalemate. “If it were only up to the PDK, we would have resolved this problem in 24 hours,” Grabovci said.
Konjufca: New talks with bloc after Assembly formation (Epoka e Re)
Glauk Konjufca, deputy leader of the Vetevendosje Movement, told the paper on Thursday that the request for new parliamentary elections is illogical given that there is already a majority in the Assembly. Konjufca said the current stalemate can be resolved by applying the principle of parliamentary majorities. He also said that, after the formation of the Assembly, Vetevendosje would hold new talks with the coalition bloc on their joint government.
US Senator to meet only President Jahjaga during Kosovo visit (Lajm)
United States Senator Christopher S. Murphy starts his two-day visit to Kosovo today, and he will meet only President Atifete Jahjaga. The paper also notes that there will be no media statements after today’s meeting with Jahjaga.
Zbogar: EU regrets what happened in Belgrade (Tribuna)
The EU Special Representative in Kosovo, Samuel Zbogar, spoke about the recent incidents during the Serbia-Albania football match, saying that the EU regrets what happened in the Belgrade stadium. “At the same time, it is also a message that we need to do more to reconcile the two nations”, Zbogar told Klan Kosova.
Suspected Ebola case in Kosovo (Kosovapress)
The staff of the Medical Center in Pristina’s Dardania neighborhood said on Thursday evening that they received a patient with symptoms of the Ebola virus. Klan Kosova reported that the patient had returned from the Hajj pilgrimage three days ago. The head of the medical center did not want to comment on the case.
