The situation in Kosovo and southern Serbia is calm, there is no indication that there may be a complication of the situation, said Zoran Stankovic, President of the Coordination Centre for Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja.

“Assessments are made on a daily basis, they have been performed and in the past, and security structures are constantly in the field and they carry out assessment of the situation,” said Stankovic visiting the B92.

He pointed out that in the Ground Safety Zone, there was “as many people as necessary” and added that the increase in the number of personnel was in connection with the fact that close to the border there was an armed conflict, and in such situations measure of precautions are undertaken.

Coordination Body, he said, has good cooperation with the local government.

“What happened is what happened in Kumanovo, I called the Mayor of Presevo Ragmi Mustafa, I asked him whether they are ready for everything, he told me they are preparing a session, we sent our representative, everything was agreed and everyone knows his role. In this policy does not interfere and everything flows normally,” said Stankovic.

He also pointed out that the Coordination Centre is aware of the situation and what can happen.

“In every community there are people who can create excesses; it cannot surprise us because we know who can do what in this area. Relations are relatively stable among nations that live in this area. For 2.5 years, as far as I headed Coordination Body, there were no inter-ethnic conflicts,” he said.

Speaking of people who came from Macedonia, Stankovic said that he received information from Ragmi Mustafa that about 700 people came to Presevo, but now the majority of them are back.
