UNMIK chief Zarif undertakes farewell visit to Belgrade (Presheva Jone)

Head of the UN Mission in Kosovo Farid Zarif met today in Belgrade director of the Serbian Government Office for Kosovo Marko Djuric. The two officials are reported to have discussed the situation in Kosovo, developments in the north, Pristina-Belgrade dialogue and Kosovo’s membership in UNESCO. Djuric said that Serbia’s vital interests rest on Kosovo’s stability, normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, and improvement of the Serb community’s position in Kosovo. Djuric also expressed the position of Belgrade authorities against Kosovo’s membership in UNESCO. Zarif, whose mandate as SRSG in Kosovo is coming to an end, expressed satisfaction that authorities in Belgrade and Pristina are committed to work on improving the economic situation in Kosovo, promote human rights and fight corruption.
