Lunacek: Use Assembly for debate not hurling eggs (Koha Ditore)
In a visit to Kosovo, European Parliament rapporteur for Kosovo Ulrike Lunacek said that throwing eggs at the Assembly is not part of a political debate. She called on the Kosovo opposition parties not to repeat the actions of last Tuesday when they hurled eggs at Prime Minister of Kosovo Isa Mustafa as he was speaking about the recent agreements reached with Belgrade. Lunacek hailed the agreements but admitted that the one establishing the Association/Community of Serb majority municipalities is “slightly contradictory.” With regards to the visa liberalization for Kosovo, Lunacek said this will not happen this year but that she was hopeful for the coming year.
26 Kosovo officials to travel to New York (Zeri, Tribuna)
At least 26 members of the Kosovo institutions are set to travel to New York to attend the annual session of the UN General Assembly. The Kosovo delegation will be led by President Atifete Jahjaga and will also include Prime Minister Isa Mustafa, Deputy Prime Minister Hashim Thaci as well as a number of other ministers and technical staff. According to Tribuna, Kosovo will not be able to display its symbols within the UN premises but Deputy Foreign Minister Petrit Selimi said Kosovo symbols will feature at the special anti-terror conference organized by the US president Barack Obama.
Turmoil within Serbian List (Epoka e Re)
The paper writes that the Serbian List is going through a rough period following the dismissal of its leader Aleksandar Jablanovic by authorities in Belgrade. In an interview for Radio Dukagjini, Jablanovic said the government in Serbia cannot dismiss him as it was not the one that appointed him in the first place. “I reiterate that the Serbian List parliamentary group remains unified in the policy it has pursued thus far. I continue to be the leader of the Serbian List,” said Jablanovic. He said he shares different views with the director of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo Marko Djuric regarding the selection of Serb representatives to the Kosovo institutions but added that Djuric has no right to dismiss him.
KFOR confirms increased level of security in Kosovo (Koha Ditore)
KFOR Commander Major General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta met with troops from the Joint Regional Detachments (JRD) deployed throughout Kosovo and reaffirmed KFOR’s commitment to providing a safe and secure environment. A press statement issued by KFOR says that the level of security in Kosovo, from the perspective of the people, has visibly increased over the recent period.
