Interview: Ksenija Bozovic, President of North Mitrovica Municipal Assembly

Pristina does not want to cooperate with the Serbs, they want us on the margins, and to not be asked for anything, says Ksenija Bozovic, President of the Municipal Assembly of Mitrovica North and Vice President of the Civil Initiative “Serbia, democracy, justice – Oliver Ivanović “, in an interview with “Vesti”. Serbs do not have the conditions for a normal life, and their eyes are fixed on Belgrade.

Many things have changed since the municipality of Mitrovica North (in the Kosovo system) was formed three years ago. How do people see this?

Every day people ask me, as a President of the Assembly, and they also come in the office of the party. They also ask about Oliver. There is great confusion. Different and contradictory information are circulating, from Belgrade on the one side and from Pristina on the other. Citizens are concerned. It has not been like this since 1999. Nothing works as it should.

There are no jobs, the economy has disappeared …

We have issues with basic conditions for normal life and survival. There is hardly a day without an incident. The most important for citizens is to be safe in a city where they live with their families. Only then we can talk about economic development.

Whenever people were invited for the elections, they were promised a better life. Who can guarantee that to them?

When members of our Ministry of Interior integrated into the Kosovo Police, it was believed that it will be better, because they are brave people with experience. However, it turned out that the heads of the chain of command of the Kosovo Police are former employees, who did not properly accept Serbian police officers. Instead of creating a safer environment, there was confusion, disputes and problems.

It seems that relations between Serbs and Albanians have not improved?

We have offered a cooperating hand, but it was not accepted. The central government in Pristina does not want to cooperate with the Serbs. Apparently everything comes down to the question of whether a person can remain living in Kosovo. There is constant talk about the return of the Serbs. Well who will return, knowing the situation?
