Kosovo leaders condemn Munich attack (media)

Kosovo President, Hashim Thaci, said today all of Kosovo was shocked by news of the terror attack in Munich on Friday. Three Kosovars are among the victims of the attack. “I am in constant touch with the authorities, but today we are in prayer with the families that are waiting for the return of their most loved ones that were victims of the attack. As I am waiting for new official information, Kosovo will provide all the necessary assistance to Germany to overcome this nightmare. As we join today to share this pain, we also join in condemning and combating every form of terrorism,” Thaci said. Assembly President, Kadri Veseli, expressed solidarity with the families of the innocent victims in Germany. “We feel deep sorrow and we express our outrage over the heinous crime that claimed the lives of 10 innocent people in Munich, among whom were three of our nationals. I express my and the solidarity of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo with the German state and people. Such horrible attacks cannot change our common values and our way of life,” Veseli said. Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, sent his condolences to the families of the victims and to the people and government of Germany. “We are shocked by the deadly attack in Munich last night. Kosovo’s people are deeply touched by this barbaric act that claimed the lives of many innocent people,” he said. Several news websites have published the identities of the Kosovar victims of the attack.

“Ibar Mosque to be rebuilt after revitalisation of Mitrovica bridge” (media)

Members of the Kosovo Government’s working group for talks with the Serbian Government in Brussels, Edita Tahiri, Arben Citaku and Rashid Calaj, visited Mitrovica on Wednesday and met with Mitrovica South Mayor Agim Bahtiri. The meeting focused on the security situation in Mitrovica, with special emphasis on the revitalisation of the main bridge, the administrative boundaries between the two municipalities and the reconstruction of the Ibar Mosque. Tahiri said she received positive signals from Brussels that the bridge will be revitalised in the coming days. “As the agreement for the revitalisation of the bridge is a tripartite agreement, its implementation requires honest commitment and engagement by all parties. So far Serbia has blocked activities in this respect but I hope this issue will be resolved and I expect good news from Brussels,” Tahiri said. She also said that work on the reconstruction of the Ibar Mosque would commence after the revitalisation of the main bridge.

EBRD Director to visit Kosovo on Monday (media)

Suma Chakrabarti, Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), will visit Pristina on Monday. Chakrabarti will meet Minister of Finance, Abdullah Hoti, and both officials will give a press conference after the meeting.
