Pristina and Belgrade agree on revitalisation of Mitrovica bridge (media)
The office of the Kosovo’s Minister for Dialogue, Edita Tahiri, issued a press release saying that they agreed on final details with the Serbian side regarding the revitalisation of Ibër/Ibar River bridge in Mitrovica. “The Mitrovica bridge will become a symbol of normalisation of relations between Serbs, Albanians, and other communities in Kosovo,” the statement reads adding that bridge will be open for movement on 20 January 2017.
Haliti: No change of positions on border demarcation (RTK)
Kosovo Assembly Deputy Speaker from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Xhavit Haliti, said that the meeting between political leaders and ambassadors of Quint countries was of special importance also for the fact that Vetëvendosje officials took part in it. Haliti said that the parties did not change their positions regarding the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro but that the meeting nevertheless gives hope that a consensus on the issue is possible.
Limaj: Demarcation agreement needs to be reworded (RTK)
In an interview for Rrokum TV, the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) leader Fatmir Limaj said that relevant experts need to work on rewording the current version of the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro. He said he expects Kosovo MPs not to vote in favour of ratifying the agreement for as long as they have dilemmas about it.
UNMIK condemns attack on Assembly (media)
The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Zahir Tanin, condemned the recent attack on the Assembly of Kosovo. “Such criminal acts have no place in Kosovo,” said Tanin. UNMIK further expressed full support for authorities for investigating the incident and brining the perpetrators to justice.
EU strongly condemns Assembly attack (Koha)
The EU Office in Kosovo has strongly condemned attack on the Assembly of Kosovo Thursday evening. “An attack on the main institution of Kosovo is an attack on democracy,” said the EU in a statement.
