UNDP donates search and rescue tools to emergency units (Koha)

Continuing with the assistance for the flood affected areas, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), through its Disaster Risk Reduction project, provided search and rescue tools for Gllogoc/Glogovac and Malishevë/Mališevo municipalities. The activity is part of the recovery efforts for the flooding that severely affected these two municipalities in January 2016, and again this fall. Upon request from the municipalities, UNDP provided various support such as conducting local post disaster needs assessment, facilitating coordination efforts among municipalities and Emergency Management Agency and latest donation that included, among other, rubber boots, water resistant clothing, bags for barriers, megaphones, generators, and shovels. Two motor pumps for each municipality will be delivered in December. Municipal officials said that this donation will greatly facilitate the work of emergency interventions teams in cases of floods in this region.
