Demarcation between the northern and southern part of Mitrovica has not been precisely defined because of which worry 70 Serbian households in the village Suvi Do/Suhodoll.

Their houses, as they say, could belong to the cadastre of the municipality southern Mitrovica.

For the mayor of South Mitrovica Agim Bahtiri question of delimitation of Mitrovica is a “done deal” because, as he says, this was resolved by the Ahtisaari plan.

The representative of the Serbs from Suvi Do/Suhodoll Mićo Kragović told Tanjug that they hope this is not the final solution.

“Someone gave itself the right to withdraw a curve here just above our houses, so by the Ahtisaari plan not a single house, Albanian or Serbian, does not belong to the northern part of Mitrovica. All the houses are in the south, and our arable land remains in the north until Korilje” explains Kragović.

He points out that this plan can be carried out but warns that in five or ten years there will be no Serbs in Suvi Do/Suhodoll.

The head of administration in the municipality of North Mitrovica Adriana Hodžić says that in this municipality do not agree with the decision that Suvi Do/Suhodoll belong to the municipality of southern Mitrovica, and she believes that it will be discussed in Brussels again although EU office in Pristina finds this issue completed.

Minister for Local Government Ljubomir Marić says to Tanjug that issues of demarcation and Suvi Do/Suhodoll were the topics of the Brussels negotiations, and expects that the agreement on freedom of movement and the bridge over the Ibar/Ibër River to be implemented.

EU Office in Pristina confirms to Tanjug that the EU believes that the boundary line between South and North Mitrovica is clearly defined in the legislation of Kosovo and encourages the mayors to sign the Memorandum of Understanding.

The deadline for resolving the issue of demarcation between northern and southern Mitrovica was October 14th 2016. Memorandum of Understanding between the mayors has not yet been signed.
