Belgrade will, along with representatives of Serbs, start forming the Community of Serb Municipalities (ZSO) in Kosovo after February 15.

Director of the Serbian Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Djuric said this on Wednesday.

The events will unfold in that way unless the authorities in Pristina start fulfilling their obligations related to the formation of the ZSO by Sretenje (Feb. 15, Serbia’s Statehood Day), Djuric said.

He stressed that ZSO’s powers and goals will be defined “together with the citizens, and in line with their needs,” while the Community will deal with security, economic development, education, health care, and public media.

“All the things necessary for our people to live and survive in Kosovo and Metohija. We won’t wait for anyone, or beg for what legitimately and legally belongs to us,” Djuric told reporters in Belgrade.

According to him, the setting up of the ZSO is an expression of strength and unity of the Serb people in Kosovo and Metohija, “and that should not scare anyone.”

“I want to say that the ZSO will be an integral part of Serbia, just as our southern province of Kosovo and Metohija is an integral part of Serbia, and will therefore maintain active, institutional, economic and political ties with Belgrade, as well as Pristina – not aimed against anyone but to benefit all citizens who live in it,” said Djuric.
