Lawyer Toma Fila is confident that Serbia seeks extradition of Ramush Haradinaj for new criminal offenses and that it has the evidence for it.

“The Hague Prosecution has accused Haradinaj in the way he could be released. The Prosecutor’s Office has the means to make the indictment, if it wishes so, so it can be refused, rejected or that it becomes obsolete,” Fila said to Tanjug regarding the evaluation of international legal experts who have said that Haradinaj’s extradition to Serbia was possible, if crimes for which he was accused by Serbia differ from those for which he was on trial in the Hague.

Asked under what conditions France can extradite Haradinaj to Serbia, Fila says that the court must, on the basis of the evidence of Serbia, establish that the case against Haradinaj is not political, and that Serbia needs to convince the court that Haradinaj’s trial in Belgrade will have no political implications.

Lawyer Toma Fila says that he is personally pessimistic about the positive response of France to Serbia’s request for extradition.

“The reaction of the whole West is that we do not need to announce warrants, and crimes that were committed against Serbs should not be punished,” said Fila.
