The President of Kosovo Hashim Thaci, said after his meeting with the Swedish Foreign Minister, Margot Wallström, that nationalist and religious ideologies want to use EU’s vacuum in Balkans.
“We understand that EU is tired with enlargement. However, the aspiration of Western Balkans countries to become part of the EU, should not suffer due to this tiredness,” Thaci said.
“EU’s delay to approach the region of Western Balkans is threat for security,” Thaci said.
Thaci discussed with the Swedish Minister developments in the region, dialogue with Serbia and the process of the integration in the European Union. “We have good relations with neighboring countries, while with Serbia, we are in the process of the dialogue,” Thaci said. According to him, “the time has come for another quality of dialogue and it should be transformed into a process of reconciliation, friendship and good neighborly cooperation between Kosovo and Serbia,” he added.
He requested from the European Union to keep the central role in the process of the dialogue.
