The German Embassy in Pristina told the news website that Kosovo needs to form the new institutions as soon as possible and that it has no time to lose in this regard.

What is the position of the German Embassy in Pristina about delays in forming the institutions, the Assembly and Government, after the 11 June elections?

Kosovo is faced with many urgent challenges. Addressing these challenges requires having a functioning government. We hope the institutions will be formed soon because Kosovo has no time to lose.

How do you assess the political disagreements over the formation of institutions and how is going to affect the lives of the people of Kosovo?

In a parliamentary democracy, the elected representatives are responsible to their voters. They need to translate the election results into a constructive majority in parliament. This requires compromises for the sake of your country and people. Many immediate challenges, such as stimulating economic growth, employment and reforms in healthcare, have a direct impact on the daily lives of the citizens of Kosovo. It is important for the elected representatives to honor the trust of their voters and to form a government soon that can address these challenges.

What is the advice of the German Embassy to move forward with creating a government?

Our advice would be: less energy for defamation against political opponents and more energy for constructive and acceptable compromises.

Can friendly countries like Germany help resolve the political crisis?

The elected representatives of Kosovo have brought about this crisis and they are responsible for finding a way forward. Germany will work with every government that represents a majority in parliament. We will continue to support Kosovo and its citizens toward a prosperous future in Europe.

If PAN (PDK-AAK-NISMA) fails to form a new government, can the second party, Vetevendosje, together with other parties do this, or must we go to elections?

The Constitution of Kosovo provides the way in which a new government can be formed. One thing is certain: a majority of at least 61 MPs is required. It seems that none of the parties can secure this at this point.
