Minister of Trade, Tourism and Communications Rasim Ljajic told Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) that Serbia should be dissatisfied if next year it’s not among the top 30 countries on the Doing business list.

When it comes to taxes which the Kosovo authorities have imposed on the flour imports from Serbia, the Minister of Trade said that Belgrade had sent a letter to the European Commission.

“We have clearly said that their thesis that the price is not competitive does not stand. We will have to impose countermeasures if this decision is not withdrawn. I believe more in the threat than in the CEFTA reaction, etc.”, said Ljajic.

The Minister said that any country that tries to protect its businessmen by taxes represents a shot in the leg.

Speaking of speculation that along with the Belgrade elections could be held early parliamentary, Ljajic explains RTS that always can be found arguments for the holding and not holding elections.

“When elections are held, you have two or three months before, but and after that the administration works idle, the process towards the EU is slower. But if you have the atmosphere in society and parliament which thus hinders the process, then it should,” said Ljajic.

He says that he personally does not support frequent elections, but, as he says, it does not mean that there will be no elections, reports RTS.
