Kosovo President, Hashim Thaci, said in an interview to Belgrade-based news website Remarker that U.S. Vice President Michael Pence confirmed to him that the U.S. will be actively involved in dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina. “Dialogue is entering a new phase and Federica Mogherini needs additional support, this is why the U.S. needs to play its role in the process,” Thaci said. “The role of the U.S. is to bring more trust and sustainability to the process”. Asked when the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities will be formed, Thaci said: “The sooner the better, and in line with Kosovo’s laws, this is an international obligation”. Thaci called all Serbs to return to Kosovo. “We will do everything in our political power to accommodate Serbs and to integrate them in Kosovar society,” he said. Thaci added that the invitation to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic to visit Pristina is always open.
