Kosovo Assembly President, Kadri Veseli, said today that if MPs do not ratify the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro, the people of Kosovo will suffer the most. Every delay, he added, would damage the citizens and Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic perspective. “The border delineation is not a party matter, either for the government or the opposition. It should be a state matter. Every delay is damaging our country and our people’s future in Euro-Atlantic integration. We need to delineate the borders as soon as possible because it is a matter of sovereignty. This needs to be concluded as soon as possible. We are running late, we are being damaged, and our people are being damaged. We are giving Serbia a pretext to interfere in our matters. We are oriented toward the West and NATO,” Veseli said after the meeting of the Assembly Presidency today. Asked to comment on statements by some partners of the ruling coalition that they will vote against the demarcation deal, Veseli said: “Kosovo has no time to lose and we need to have the required number of votes. Kosovo does not benefit from rejecting demarcation. We are damaging our sovereignty and independence. I am confident that we will only be late and ultimately we will vote for the same version”. Veseli also said that a date on the assembly session that will vote on the demarcation agreement has yet to be set.
