Security, selling of houses and properties, unemployment and bad infrastructure are the biggest problems in the village of Ugljare, nearby Kosovo Polje, inhabitants from the village said during the meeting with Gracanica mayor Srdjan Popovic, KIM Radio reports.

Mayor Srdjan Popovic paid a visit to this village to see how the situation is, following inscription of offensive graffiti on a school wall some time ago.

Nenad Joksimovic, village inhabitant said security is the main problem in this village.

“We had one murder, two wounded persons, attempts of kidnapping, inscriptions of graffiti, and that is a lot (…). Selling of properties stopped a bit, as people in Ugljare stayed and remained here. My proposal is to reconstruct social buildings, as it would strengthen the village that borders two Albanian majority municipalities, Kosovo Polje and Pristina,” Joksimovic said, KIM Radio reported.

Frequent thefts also contribute to the bad security situation, inhabitants further noted.

“We are aware security is very important and that thefts are becoming more frequent lately. That is why we will insist to open two or three police sub-stations in Gracanica and one of them to be located here in Ugljare. This is maybe the most sensitive place in Gracanica municipality and we will try to place our strongest focus here,” mayor Popovic said.

Infrastructural projects such as reconstruction of a kindergarten and reparation of roads were also discussed, while Ugljare inhabitants warned on the high unemployment rate, forcing young people to leave the village in pursuing jobs and incomes, KIM Radio reported.
