Serbian Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija Director, Marko Djuric urged Serbs in Kosovo not to join the “illegal army of Kosovo” and reminded that “under the Serbian Criminal Code, entering into service of illegal, foreign armed formations is unlawful and punishable with up to ten years in prison,” Radio kontakt plus reported.
He stressed that the formation of an illegal army in Kosovo is contrary to the Resolution 1244, the Kumanovo Agreement and against the goal of the Serbian state – which is a long-term stability.
He added that the “Serbian List which is opposing the formation of the army in Kosovo has the support of the President of the state, Aleksandar Vucic and the Serbian Government”.
Djuric also said it was good the Serbian Army has started to be modernized and strengthened, because the peace was the most important thing for Serbia.
“A strong army keeps the peace and it is important that the Army of Serbia is strengthened. The goal of strengthening is to have a stronger guarantor of peace,” Djuric told TV Pink, adding that the EULEX mission was unsuccessful in Kosovo because it did not create the conditions for the rule of law.
“Such EULEX was brought in by those who say that Kosovo should be allowed to the UN without any conditions” Djuric said.
