Coordinator of Missing and Kidnapped Persons Families in Kosovo, Milorad Trifunovic told Radio kontakt plus destiny of 1654 persons still remains unknown, while 562 persons belong to the Serb and non-Albanian ethnicities.
Trifunovic, whose brother was kidnapped in 1998, told the radio that any hope is lost some of the missing and kidnapped persons could be still alive.
“Both, Serbs and Albanians have lost a hope that some of those we are searching for could be alive. We have decided to go till the end, to get mortal remains at least, bury them with dignity, erect a monument, light candle,” Trifunovic said.
He added an exhumation of mortal remains found in a location near Djakovica town was completed a few days ago, and remains of at least five persons were found there.
Trifunovic said DNA test that would be carried out in Bosnia and Herzegovina would show if discovered mortal remains belong to some of the missing Serbs in Kosovo.
He said despite their opposition and an official request to EULEX to continue with exhumation and identification processes, EULEX handed over this responsibility to the Kosovo institutions.
Trufunovic also voiced dissatisfaction over the process of shedding the light on destiny of kidnaped and missing persons in Kosovo, saying that for five years there are more than 300 unidentified bodies in a morgue in Pristina, and only one person has been identified so far, Radio kontakt plus reported.
