Prime Minister of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, said that the situation with energy market in the north of Kosovo is “intolerable” and that Kosovo needs to assert rule in the energy sector throughout its territory. “Energy agreement has not been implemented by the Serbian side. It is clear they win 30 million euros from this. We cannot tolerate this situation indefinitely,” Haradinaj said at the Assembly of Kosovo today as a response to MPs seeking clarification over the governments’ decision to allocate funds for the KOSTT (Kosovo Transmission, System and Market Operator) to cover for losses incurred from unpaid electricity bills in the north.

Haradinaj also spoke dialogue with Serbia saying the technical part of it has come to a halt as Kosovo insists on implementation of energy agreement while Serbia wants primarily establishment of the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities. “It a while now since the technical dialogue is not going ahead precisely because of this situation; we have considered it futile to sit at the tables where energy is not item number one. We are not refusing other topics but this needs to top the list,” Haradinaj said. On the other end, he said the Serbian side and EU want to rearrange the agenda and put on top the issue of Association/Community. “We have exchanged some not very pleasant correspondence with dialogue facilitators but we are waiting for future developments and I think the parliament has every right to said there is no logic in addressing issues with such a wrong order,” Haradinaj said.
