Significantly more than half of Serbian citizens, 63 percent precisely, think that the frozen conflict in Kosovo is the best solution at the moment. Every second citizen believes the Kosovo status would not be resolved in the next 5 to 10 years.

These are the results of „Factor Plus “Agency survey carried out this month. Concrete agreement in which both Serbs and Albanians would lose and gain something is supported by 21 percent of responders, while 9 percent support agreement between Belgrade and Pristina at any cost.

Director of the Agency, Vladimir Pejic said it remains unclear as why so many citizens support frozen conflict, whether because there are no other solutions or out of fear. He added, that based on survey results, 63 percent of citizens feel sadness over the current situation in Kosovo, every third respondent is raged, while 15 percent feel disappointment.

Given the recent developments in Kosovo, the agency decided to include a question what Serbia should do in case “Kosovo forces” occupy the north of Kosovo, and almost half of the respondents said Serbia should use a military force, either on entire territory or in the north.

Pejic expressed concern in this regard, adding that 25 percent of citizens support agreement reached in a diplomatic manner, while 35 percent believe Serbia would neither normalize relations nor recognize Kosovo.

More than half of the citizens said they feel Kosovo and Metohija as their own country. When asked if they are ready to bear any difficulties related to their lives in order for Kosovo to remain part of Serbia, 18 percent said they are, while 50 percent said they are not, Serbian media reported.
