The President of the Assembly of Kosovo, Kadri Veseli, met with the EU Rapporteur for Kosovo, Tanja Fajon, to discuss the current matters in the region, Euro-integration processes and especially liberalization of visas for Kosovo people.
Veseli confirmed once again commitment of Kosovo’s institutions and population to move faster with the integration processes, however he stressed the necessity for the EU to move forward in relation to Kosovo and its people, especially when liberalization of visas within this year is concerned.. Now we only need political decision-making.
“Ms. Fajon is doing an extraordinarily positive job in order for the liberalization of visas to happen. We analysed our reality. We are at almost the final phase. All technical conditions are fulfilled am certain that our citizens will move freely, without visas in the Schengen zone, by the end of this year. Ms. Fajon also advised me to what countries should we orient, to convince them about liberalization of visas. We are on the verge of the big decision,” Veseli said.
Rapporteur Fajon also expressed her belief that visa liberalization for Kosovo people will happen this year, because, as she said, Kosovo has already fulfilled all the criteria.
She said that once the Commission comes out with a positive report at the end of June, immediately in early July she will put the Kosovo issue on the agenda of the Visa Liberalization Commission.
“I am happy to meet with the President of the Assembly of Kosovo to discuss the next steps for visa liberalization. My support is unequivocal because Kosovo citizens deserve to travel visa-free to the Schengen area, ” Fajon said.
