Office for Kosovo and Metohija Director, Marko Djuric earlier announced that the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic during the forthcoming visit to Kosovo would “convey a strong message” to the Serbs living here, RTV KIM reported.

Expectations of inhabitants from central Kosovo are different, while some local politicians think all they would hear are pre-ordered applauses for the main orator.

President Vucic would visit Kosovo on 8 and 9th September, only one day after the meeting with his Kosovo counterpart Hashim Thaci and EU High Representative Federica Mogherini in Brussels.

During the second day of his visit, either in Mitrovica North or Zubin Potok, President Vucic’s address is expected. Some media already termed this address as “Vucic’s Gazimestan” while the President said it would be “one of the most important speeches in his career,” noting “it would be a speech for the future, and not for the applause.”

RTV KIM interviewed inhabitants in central Kosovo asking them what they think the President Vucic would be telling them.

“He is done with Kosovo under the pressure. Now he will convince us to vote for it and that it is in fact good for Serbs, in order to justify himself,” Radojica Trajkovic said.

“I expect everything the best. He gave everything to the Serbs and helped a lot. He employed people,” Slavica Aksic said.

“To tell you the truth, I expect nothing. I know Vucic as a radical who pledged with Seselj for the Great Serbia. Now, it is strange to me that he is pledging for Greater Albania. If the border would be in Mitrovica North, we would remain in Albania. The only thing we can do is to leave,” Titomir Sekulic from Gracanica said.

Some local politicians think President Vucic has nothing to convey to the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.

Deputy chair of the Serbian National Forum, Zivorad Lazic said that, among others, Ivica Dacic and Aleksandar Vucic are responsible for the departure of Serbs from Kosovo.

“What message the President Vucic can send, when at the same time he makes unbelievable statements for a head of the state, that there are no Serbs in Caglavica, Bresje, Kosovo Polje. Obviously, there are no Serbs in Ugljare village either. Such statements by the President of the Republic are not seen in the history of the Serbian people and influence people to depart from these areas. For that number of Serbs who have left Kosovo and Metohija, Ivica Dacic and Aleksandar Vucic are directly responsible with statements they make. The people obviously have no trust in the authorities,” Lazic said.

Leader of Progressive Democratic Party, Nenad Rasis thinks that Serbs in Kosovo need to hear from President Vucic what is the solution and explanation what would happen with the Serbs south of the Ibar River.

Director of Forum of Interethnic Relations, Dusan Janjic thinks the visit will be organized with a clearly defined aim. Janjic claims that President Vucic would present something which is not a full platform, and he would inform the public about solutions, for which he would ask support, first from Serbs in Kosovo, and then from Serbs in Serbia.
