European Parliament Rapporteur for Serbia David McAllister thinks it is very important that in his report on Serbia, same as in the report on Kosovo by Igor Soltes, there is an identical formulation on correction of borders topic, as part of the solution for Belgrade-Pristina relations, national broadcaster RTS reports.

What we have jointly said is that “we take note of the talks, we take note of a debate, but it is very clear the solution should be jointly agreed between the two sides, contribute to the regional stability and to be in line with the international law,” McAllister told Brussels-based RTS correspondent, Dusan Gajic.

He is also pleased that his report received a majority in the Committee for Foreign Affairs and remains convinced a good debate would follow at the plenary session taking place on 28 November, in order to adopt the report one day later.

McAlister noted the report acknowledges economic progress of Serbia, successful fiscal consolidation, but also the fact there is a room for progress in the political area, primarily when it comes to the rule of law, the fight against corruption and the freedom of the media.

The Government of Serbia is aware that difficult work awaits it, and during the recent visit to Belgrade I have seen the readiness of the authorities there to continue hard work in order for Serbia to become a member of the EU at certain moment, McAlister underlined.
