Brussels agreement on normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina is a chance to establish the trust between Serbs and Albanians, concluded participants of a roundtable “Is Brussels Agreement Clinically Dead,” organized by the National Convent on European Union yesterday, Danas daily reports.

Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister, Dalibor Jevic said that the Brussels agreement would not be dead if its guarantors enable implementation of what has been agreed upon, adding that response to the question “is the Brussels agreement clinically dead,” is in Brussels.

According to Jevtic, there is nothing that can be termed as first steps in the process of establishment of the Association/Community of Serb-majority Municipalities, and the EU should be asked why they have not used mechanisms that would contribute to that process. Jevtic opined if the EU wants something to happen, they use mechanisms to make that happen, as it could be seen in the case of demarcation between Kosovo and Montenegro.

Jevtic assessed the idea on delineation in Kosovo as a possibility to establish lasting peace and trust both south and north of the Ibar River.

Meanwhile, Youth Initiative for Human Rights, Programme Director Ivan Djuric said that delineation, if it is euphemism for ethnic exchange of territories, would not be a guarantor of peace, but would rather generate further ethnic conflicts and a complete segregation between the two peoples. Djuric opined that ethnic exchange (of territories) is a source for instability, adding it would impact entire region, in particular Bosnia and Hercegovina.
