Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister Enver Hoxhaj said that protective measure of ten percent tax set by Kosovo government on products imported from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, defends interests of Kosovo state, it strengthens it and protects local production.

He told Telegrafi that the decision was made in order to impede Serbia from financing campaigns against Kosovo.

He called on Kosovo people to boycott Serbian products as much as possible and to buy goods produced in Kosovo. “At some point we said no to Milosevic’s regime through boycott, civilian resistance and armed war, today, we want to block Serbia’s economy and the decision is the right one,” Hoxhaj said. He added that Kosovo government will continue to keep this decision. “If they have the luxury to continue, we will sustain as well with our decision that we have made as the government of the Republic of Kosovo. I think that the decision as such, protects interests of Kosovo state, sovereignty of Kosovo, territorial integrity, but above all, it protects local products,” Enver Hoxhaj said.
