Stefano Stefanini, Senior Fellow at the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security said in Belgrade that Kosovo must become a member of INTERPOL because it is at the crossroads of international roads and crime. “If there is a country that should be part of INTERPOL and that we all want to see in INTERPOL, it is Kosovo,” Stefanini said at a panel on talks between Pristina and Belgrade, adding that Kosovo’s membership is important for the stability of Europe and the region. “Serbia is able to stop Kosovo’s membership and could even call this a victory, but this will be a loss for both countries”. Stefanini said talks between the two sides have continued despite major challenges and that now it is important to reach a final agreement. He added that an agreement between the two countries must be sustainable and long-term, in line with international law and the EU Acquis Communitaire and it should include the full normalization of relations between the two countries.
